A Quiet Moment on the Trail
A Quiet Moment on the Trail aims to document the Wodonga to Cudgewa rail trail in it’s current state and invites the viewer on a journey from the recently revamped and renovated Wodonga Station, immediately noticeable to many local residents, to the vacant lot of the old Cudgewa Station; the end of the line.
The great expanse of this line, stalking the shoreline of the Hume Weir and rambling through mountainous ranges for more than 113km, served as an important source of transport for pieces of infrastructure of great importance to the immediate and wider communities, including the Hume Weir and Snowy Mountain Hydro scheme.
The rail trail winds through Wodonga and out the township, meandering along popular routes beside restaurants, swimming spots, and homes. This photo series asks the viewer not to stop at these images, but to explore the trail themselves. And, as they do, to stop and look closely at what has been reclaimed by society and what is slowly being reclaimed by nature, often hidden.
The images have been separated into three sections to roughly represent the section the rail line was built in, as well as to show the changing scenery from Wodonga to Cudgewa.
